Resolution 10201, Authorizing repairs to the Sediment Collection Trench in <br /> 2 the Public Works Facility. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 Public Works/Parks and Recreation Director Peterson requested the Council authorize repairs to <br /> 5 the sediment collection trench in the Public Works Facility. He explained that the Public Works <br /> 6 Facility was constructed in 2016 which included a sediment collection trench. He indicated this <br /> 7 trench was within 50 feet of Well No. 2. Staff discussed the problems that were occurring within <br /> 8 the trench and recommended the proposed repairs move forward. <br /> 9 <br /> to MOTION/SECOND: Clark/Meehlhause. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 10201, <br /> 11 Authorizing repairs to the Sediment Collection Trench in the Public Works Facility. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 Ayes—5 Nays—0 Motion carried. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 D. Resolution 10202, Authorization to Replace the Boilers and Water Heater for <br /> 16 the City Hall building. <br /> 17 <br /> 18 Public Works/Parks and Recreation Director Peterson requested the Council authorize the <br /> 19 replacement of the boilers and water heater for the City Hall building. He explained the boilers at <br /> 20 City Hall were used for heating and cooling at City Hall and were originally installed in 2000. He <br /> 21 indicated the boilers have had several failures and repairs cost $5,000 to $6,000 per year. Staff <br /> 22 commented further on the project and recommended the Council approve the replacement of the <br /> 23 boilers and water heater at City Hall. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 Mayor Lindstrom asked how long the new boiler system would last. Public Works/Parks and <br /> 26 Recreation Director Peterson anticipated the new system would last the City 30 years and <br /> 27 explained the new system would be much more efficient than the existing system. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 Council Member Clark indicated the City would be going from three boilers to one boiler in the <br /> 30 new system. She commented this was possible due to the new technology that was available.Public <br /> 31 Works/Parks and Recreation Director Peterson reported this was the case. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 Vince Meyer, 8380 Spring Lake Road, questioned why the City only received one bid for this job. <br /> 34 <br /> 35 Dennis Romson, 7840 Bona Road, cautioned the City from moving forward with only one boiler <br /> 36 noting the City would no longer have a backup boiler. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 Public Works/Parks and Recreation Director Peterson stated this project was on the Omni contract <br /> 39 and did not require the City to go out to bid. He explained the project was already bid through the <br /> 40 Omni Group. City Attorney Riggs reported this type of service has already been bid and going <br /> 41 through the State contract saved the City money in the long run. <br /> 42 <br /> 43 Public Works/Parks and Recreation Director Peterson reported the City has purchased playground <br /> 44 equipment and other Public Works items through the State contract.He commented further on how <br /> 45 the State bidding process simplifies the bidding process for the City. He explained he would reach <br /> 46 out to Trane to see what they have to say about having only one boiler instead of three and to <br />
