MEMO TO: Mounds View Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> • FROM: Bruce K. Anderson, Director <br /> DATE: January 20, 1978 <br /> RE: Monthly Update - January 1978 <br /> The purpose of this report is to keep the Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> informed on current issues within the Parks, Recreation and Forestry <br /> Department that do not need official Commission action. <br /> A resource file of related items will be placed in the City Hall office <br /> and is available for review upon request. <br /> 1. Job Description - Staff is presently in the process of reviewing <br /> and re-writing job descriptions for all departmental positions. <br /> The job descriptions will be used in conjunction with the City <br /> Wide performance review system which is presently being formulated. <br /> The timeline for completion of the job description and performance <br /> review guidelines is March 28, 1978. <br /> A copy of the first draft job descriptions of all departmental <br /> staff can be found in the January resource file. <br /> 2. Bikeway Grant - We received word from Mn DOT that they had received <br /> • our preliminary grant application and are in the process of priori- <br /> tizing the applications at this time. According to Mn DOT's timeline <br /> we will he notified as to Mounds View's status sometime in early <br /> February. <br /> 3. Bid Opening - The bids for the remodeling of the city hall basement <br /> were opened on Thursday, January 19. A staff report is now being <br /> prepared and hopefully the project will begin before the months end. <br /> The basement remodeling encompasses new recreation offices, a <br /> community room and possibly bathroom facilities. The new office <br /> location will be warmly welcomed so that we can have our staff all <br /> officed out of one room. <br /> 4. Bocce Ball Sets - Staff prepared a short resolution to be submitted <br /> before the City Council for the acquisition of 2 Bocce Ball sets from <br /> the State of Minnesota. Governor Rudy Perpich has set aside his 1978 <br /> salary increase for the purchase and distribution of Bocce Ball sets <br /> to those communities requesting the same, through City Council resolutions. <br /> 5. Tree program - Staff has been corresponding with DesPeres, Missouri <br /> in regards to the feasibility of a City Tree dedication policy. The <br /> existing program in DesPeres is a simple one: <br /> a . If a city resident wishes to donate a tree to their park system either <br /> as a gift or memorial they contact the Recreation office. <br /> • <br />
