Mounds View City Council May 11, 2026 <br />Regular Meeting Page 2 <br /> <br />Mayor Lindstrom thanked Mr. Nielsen for his detailed presentation on the 2025 audit. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Meehlhause/Gunn. To Accept the 2025 Financial Reports and Audit <br />Results. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br /> B. National Public Works Week Proclamation (to be read aloud). <br /> <br />Mayor Lindstrom read a proclamation in full for the record declaring May 17 through May 23, <br />2026 to be National Public Works Week in the City of Mounds View. <br /> <br /> C. 2026 MVPD Quarter 1 Report- Police Chief Zender. <br /> <br />Police Chief Zender presented the Council with the first quarter report from the Mounds View <br />Police Department. He reported this week was National Police Week and he thanked his officers <br />for serving the community with integrity, professionalism, dedication and bravery on a daily basis. <br />He remembered and honored those who have given their lives in the line of duty. He provided <br />further information on the events that occurred in Quarter 1 and thanked all who participated in <br />the Daddy Daughter Dance and Polar Plunge. He reported he currently had 18 officers and two <br />CSO’s. He commented on the recent interviews held for the two open positions. He discussed the <br />life saving awards that were presented to Officer Boscardin, Officer Garcia and Investigator Solz, <br />noting that these individuals were also recognized at the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Executive <br />Training Institute. He commented on the missing person case for Hailey Amar that began in <br />December 2015 and was closed in March of 2025. He presented the calls for service noting his <br />officers remain active when it comes to traffic and TZD calls. He thanked the City Council for <br />their investment in the Flock cameras, noting these cameras are proving to be a valuable tool for <br />the Mounds View Police Department and stated he appreciated the Council’s continued support. <br /> <br />7. PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> <br />Mayor Lindstrom encouraged the public to speak with kindness and respect when addressing the <br />City Council during Public Comment. <br /> <br />Vince Meyer, 8380 Spring Lake Road, suggested the City Council consider discussing address <br />markings on buildings in the community for safety purposes. <br /> <br />Tony Preciado, 8217 Long Lake Road, reported last Saturday he visited El Novillo Alegre and <br />explained there were so many people at this restaurant that the restrooms could not support the <br />users. He suggested the City look into this concern because there were too many people at this <br />restaurant on the weekends. He noted he was not given the correct change back for his bill and <br />stated he had concerns with the fact the restaurant misrepresented who would be paying the credit <br />card fees. <br /> <br />Connie Harness, 5511 Quincy Street, expressed concern with her high gas and electric bills from <br />this past winter. She reported her bills ranged from $700 to $1,100 per month over the past four
