Item No. 613 <br />MEMORANDUM <br />To: Parks & Recreation & Forestry Commissioners <br />From: Pete Szurek — Public Works Superintendent <br />Date: April 23rd, 2026 <br />RE: Public Works Staff Report <br />The following is a synopsis of recent activities and events of the Public Works Department. <br />(2.5 fulltime Park Workers) worked on the following items since <br />April 1st, 2026. <br />Parks Maintenance <br />• Seasonal interviews -four seasonals for Parks, one seasonal in Forestry. <br />• CPR and First Aid Certification Training. <br />• Spring 2026 playground inspections on all city owned playgrounds, parts have been ordered. <br />• Swing repairs <br />• Net installations: tennis, volleyball, and the batting cage. <br />• Ball field practice and game preparations at all ballfields. <br />• Preparation for Earth Day cleanup <br />• All parks, pre -emergent wood chip applications on flower beds, signs around buildings. <br />Forestry <br />Staff worked on the following items last month: <br />• Several resident phone consults and site visits. <br />• 2026 City Tree Sale, 22 out of 80 trees remaining as of 4-20-2026. <br />• Tree pruning has stopped — Tree pruning is not recommended this time of year. <br />• Silverview Trail (3) hazard removals. <br />• Oakwood Park fence line stump grinding and tree removals. <br />• Arbor Day Tree sale preparation. <br />• Arbor day preparation. <br />• Removal of stakes from younger trees. <br />The following is the List of Parks and projects / maintenance activities ongoing or planned this year. <br />Current updates are in black text, and updates from the previous two -month period are in grey. <br />Ardan Park <br />• Erosion control checks <br />• Trash and litter checks <br />Community Center, Public Works Shop and City Hall Greenspaces <br />• Trash and litter checks <br />11Page <br />
