CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW
COUNTY OF RAMSEY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING MOUNDS VIEW ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
COMMISSION TO SERVE AS STEERING COMMITTEE FOR MOUNDS VIEW'S
PARTICIPATION IN THE STAR CITY PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Mounds View Economic Development Commission ("Commission")
was established to assist and advise the Economic Development Authority in mattcrs relating to
the economic development and redevelopment of the City; and
WHEREAS, the Commission consists of three business representatives and four residents
representing a broad scope of the community; and
WHEREAS, the Economic Development Authority, whose members are the Council,
appoint members to the Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Trade and Economic Development
(MnDTED) oilers the Star City Program to help communities prepare and implement a strategic
economic devclopment plan and develop skills for implementing that plan; and
WHEREAS, the Star City Program requires cities to complete various components before
becoming a Star City; and
WHEREAS, MnDTED has staff to provide technical assistance to cities interested in
achieving Star City status.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW, MINNESOTA, as follows:
1. That the Executive Director of the Economic Development Authority be
authorized to notify the Minnesota Department of Trade and Economic
Development of the City's intent to participate in the Star City Program.
2. That the Mounds View Economic Development Commission be authorized to
serve as the Star City steering committee.
3.
That the Mounds View Economic Development Commission provide quarterly
reports to the Economic Development Authority regarding the progress in
achieving Star City designation.
