STATE OF MINNESOTA
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING 2009 SQUAD CAR PURCHASE
WHEREAS, the Mounds View Police Department maintains a replacement
schedule of police vehicles to ensure that the Police Department is properly equipped to
provide emergency response to its citizens, and ;
WHEREAS, the Mounds View Police Department planned and budgeted for
replacement of two squad cars to meet this need in 2009, and;
WHEREAS, the replacement cost of two squad cars was budgeted in 2009 at an
estimated cost of $23,000.00 each, plus equipment and set up, and;
WHEREAS, Elk River Ford was awarded the state bid for the 2009 Ford Crown
Victoria Police Interceptor Package at an approximate cost of $21,722.36 each;
WHEREAS, the City Council for the City of Mounds View has indicated a need to
reduce Police Department spending in 2009, therefore to accomplish this only one squad
car is to be purchased in 2009.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council for the City of
Mounds View authorizes the purchase of one 2009 Ford Crown Victoria squad car under
the state bid at an approximate cost of $21,722.36 plus tax, registration, and any license
fees, and the sale of the one old squad car being replaced through the Admin MN State
Surplus Services auction.
