STATE OF MINNESOTA
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPROVAL TO PRECEDE WITH A GRANT
APPLICATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE COPS HIRING PROGRAM FOR
ONE NEW POLICE OFFICER
WHEREAS, the Department of Justice is offering grants through its Community
Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Office Hiring Recovery Program; and,
WHEREAS, the process for obtaining an award under this program is a
competitive one; and,
WHEREAS, the grant will fund 100% of the salary and benefits of new officers
for a three year period, so long as communities commit to retaining the new position(s)
for one year beyond the three year grant period; and,
WHEREAS, the deadline for the grant application is April 14, 2009.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mounds View City Council
does hereby authorize staff to proceed with a grant application to the Department of
Justice COPS Hiring Recovery Grant Program, requesting an award for one new Police
Officer.
