CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW
COUNTY OF RAMSEY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
APPROVING INTENT TO EXERCISE THE OPT OUT CLAUSE OF THE CONTRACT
WITH VISIT MINNEAPOLIS NORTH EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 31, 2009
WHEREAS the City of Mounds View is a current member of Visit Minneapolis North
(VMN), a local convention and visitors bureau representing 11 communities and 42
lodging properties in the north metro area; and
WHEREAS Mounds View has been a member of the Visit Minneapolis North
Convention and Visitor's Bureau (CVB) since 2001; and
WHERAS the Cities of Arden Hills, Blaine, Coon Rapids and Shoreview opted out of
VMN effective December 31, 2009; and
WHEREAS on March 18, 2009, VMN's Board of Directors voted to allow the Cities
of Anoka, Fridley, Ham Lake and Mounds View to provide resolutions to VMN by April 30,
2009, of their intent to opt out of their agreements with VMN with the receipt of all lodging
taxes collected through December 31, 2009; and
WHEREAS City staff from ten north metro cities (including Mounds View) located
east of the Mississippi River have met several times and continue to discuss the
governance structure of a potential new CVB; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mounds View City Council hereby
authorizes staff to give notice to the Visit Minneapolis North that the City intends to
exercise the opt out clause of its contract.
