APPOINTING KIRSTEN LAFEAN TO THE
POSITION OF POLICE OFFICER
WHEREAS, the City Council has approved the hiring of a Police Officer for a
current vacancy in the Police Department, and the Police Civil Service Commission has
approved the procedures for establishing an eligibility register to fill this vacancy, and;
WHEREAS, the approved hiring procedures consist of a competitive written
examination, resume scoring, oral interviews, background investigations, physical
examination, psychological examination, and physical agility testing, and;
WHEREAS, the Civil Service Commission has certified the eligibility list for the
opening, and Kirsten Lafean is the top candidate standing on the eligibility register, and
her background investigation, physical, psychological, and physical agility testing have
all been successfully completed, and;
WHEREAS, staff of the Police Department have met with Ms. Lafean, and the
Chief of Police recommends she be appointed to the position of Police Officer.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mounds View City Council
does hereby appoint Kirsten Lafean to the position of Police Officer effective June 1,
2009 at the step one rate of pay ($20.70/hr) as stipulated in the Law Enforcement Labor
Services contract for the position.
