ADOPTING A CALENDAR FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE 2011 BUDGET
WHEREAS, the City's Charter and Code as well as State Statutes set forth various
requirements for considering and adopting the City's budget; and
WHEREAS, Section 7.04 of the City Charter requires the Clerk-Administrator to submit to
the City Council a budget calendar to be established by resolution.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds View
that the following budget and long tern financial plan calendar is hereby adopted:
June 7, 2010 City Council discusses budget priorities at a work session.
July 22, 2010 Summary of General Fund operating budget requests delivered to City
Council.
August 2, 2010 City Council reviews General Fund budget at work session.
Sept. 13, 2010 City Council adopts preliminary 2011 property tax levy and sets date for the
Truth in Taxation Public Hearing.
Oct. 4, 2010 City Council reviews other funds and utility rate study at a work session.
Nov. 8, 2010 City Council adopts utility rates for 2011.
Dec. 6, 2010 Truth in Taxation Public Hearing.
Dec. 13, 2010 Continuation Hearing and adoption of 2011 budget and tax levy.

May 10, 2010 Finance Department begins preparing budget work papers.
May 24, 2010 Departments begin preparing operating budget requests.
June 7, 2010 City Council discusses budget priorities and strategies.
June 18, 2010 Operating budget requests due from departments.
June 28, 2010 Summary of operating budget requests due to City Administrator.
June 28, 2010 Capital items needs list due.
July 1-16, 2010 Administrator reviews operating budget requests and capital projects.
July 22, 2010 Summary of operating budget requests due to City Council.
August 2, 2010 City Council reviews General Fund budget at a work session.
August 9, 2010 Work on utility rate study begins.
Sept. 13, 2010 City Council adopts preliminary 2011 property tax levy and sets
date for the Truth in Taxation Public Hearing.
Sept. 23, 2010 Utility rate study due to City Council.
October 4, 2010 City Council reviews other funds and utility rate study at work
session.
Oct 11 - Nov 22 Additional City Council work sessions as needed.
November 8, 2010 City Council adopts utility rates for 2011.
December 6, 2010 Truth in Taxation Public Hearing
Dec. 13, 2010 Continuation hearing and adoption of 2010 Budget and tax levy.
