CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW
COUNTY OF RAMSEY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
APPROVING THE HIRE OF KEVIN KOCH AS ENGINEERING/GIS INTERN IN THE
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the City Council first approved a Public Works Intern position on
May 8, 2006 (Res. 6807) in an effort to better serve the citizens of Mounds View, to
meet the goals set by the City Council, and to enable the Public Works Department to
administer activities associated with public improvement projects; and
WHEREAS, the last Public Works Intern resigned and the position was vacated
on September 4, 2009; and
WHEREAS, the City Council approved a revised position description and title
change from "Engineering Intern" to "Engineering/GIS Intern" and approved advertising
to hire the position on February 8, 2010 (Res. 7475); and
WHEREAS, thirty-four applications were received for the position and six
candidates were selected for interviews based on the best match of qualifications,
duties, and abilities as outlined in the intern position description; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Kevin Koch of Blaine, Minnesota was determined to be the best
candidate for the Engineering/GIS Intern position.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows:
Mr. Kevin Koch is hereby appointed to the position of Engineering/GIS Intern in the
Public Works Department, pending a satisfactory background check, with a starting
date on or about May 17, 2010.
2. Mr. Koch is approved for part-time hours (up to 15 hours per week) and full-time
hours during summer and holiday breaks (up to 40 hours per week) at an hourly rate
of $11.75 per hour without benefits.
Adopted this 12th day of April, 2010.
