APPROVING PURCHASE OF ELECTRONIC SCOREBOARD AND CONTRACT FOR
ELECTRICAL SUPPLY CONSTRUCTION FOR BASEBALL FIELD AT GREENFIELD
PARK
WHEREAS, Ms. Kate Wisser of New Brighton, Minnesota donated $25,000 to the
City of Mounds View in honor of her late husband, Mr. Mark Wisser, to be used for
baseball field improvements at Greenfield Park; and
WHEREAS, it was determined by the Parks and Recreation and Forestry
Commission (the "Commission") and City staff that an electronic scoreboard and a
batting cage would be the best improvements to use for the donation amount; and
WHEREAS, the City Council adopted Resolution 7648 accepting the donation by
Ms. Kate Wisser and approved naming the baseball field in honor of her late husband,
Mr. Mark Wisser; and
WHEREAS, City staff investigated options and manufacturers of scoreboards and
found Varsity Scoreboards of Murray, Kentucky to have the best value at $4,014.68; and
WHEREAS, the City solicited and received quotes ranging from $3,450 to $5,840
from three qualified electrical contractors to construct electrical power supply to the
scoreboard, with the lowest quote of $3,450 submitted by North Side Electric of New
Brighton, Minnesota.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds
View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows:
1. The City hereby approves purchase of the electronic scoreboard from Varsity
Scoreboards of Murray, Kentucky for $4,014.68 and directs City staff to
purchase the scoreboard.
2. The City hereby accepts the quote proposal of $3,450 from North Side Electric
of New Brighton, Minnesota to construct the electrical power supply to the new
baseball field scoreboard at Greenfield Park. City staff is further authorized to
prepare an independent contractor agreement between the City of Mounds
View and North Side Electric for said work for $3,450.
3. Upon satisfactory review by the City Attorney, the Mayor and City
Administrator are hereby authorized and directed, for and on behalf of the City,
to execute and enter into an independent contractor agreement with North
Side Electric.
4. Payment for scoreboard purchase and electrical power supply construction will
be funded by the Mr. Mark Wisser memorial funds donated to the City on July
26, 2010.
