CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW

APPROVING CONTRACT FOR BATTING CAGE CONSTRUCTION
AT GREENFIELD PARK
WHEREAS, Ms. Kate Wisser of New Brighton, Minnesota donated $25,000 to the
City of Mounds View in honor of her late husband, Mr. Mark Wisser, to be used for
baseball field improvements at Greenfield Park; and
WHEREAS, it was determined by the Parks and Recreation and Forestry
Commission (the "Commission") and City staff that an electronic scoreboard and a
batting cage would be the best improvements to use for the donation amount; and
WHEREAS, the City Council adopted Resolution 7648 accepting the donation by
Ms. Kate Wisser and approved naming the baseball field in honor of her late husband,
Mr. Mark Wisser; and
WHEREAS, the City solicited and received quotes ranging from $14,420 to
$15,800 from three qualified fencing contractors to construct the fencing for the batting
cage, with the lowest quote of $14,420 submitted by Century Fence Company of Forest
Lake, Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, City staff are soliciting quotes for grading work associated with
constructing the batting cage and don't anticipate the costs to exceed $2,400.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds
View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows:
1. The City hereby accepts the quote proposal for $14,420 from Century Fence
Company of Forest Lake, Minnesota to construct the fencing for the batting
cage at Greenfield Park. City staff is further authorized to prepare an
independent contractor agreement between the City of Mounds View and
Century Fence Company for said work at said price.
2. Upon satisfactory review by the City Attorney, the Mayor and City
Administrator are hereby authorized and directed, for and on behalf of the City,
to execute and enter into an independent contractor agreement with Century
Fence Company.
3. City staff are directed to receive quotes for grading work associated with the
batting cage and to contract with the lowest qualified contractor in an amount
not to exceed $2,400.
4. Payment for the batting cage construction (fencing and grading) will be funded
by the Mr. Mark Wisser memorial funds donated to the City on July 26, 2010.
