SUCH EXPAJSIOI AT A DIFFEREET SITE.
The Village Council of the Village of Mounds View at
a special meeting held at the Village office on the 7 day of March,
1961 at r o'clock p.m. approved unanimously the following resolution.
Moved by, ›.9‘.4 and seconded by as follows:
64 WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Airports Commission intends
to expand the facilities of the Anoka County Airport, presently located
on the northern boundary of the Village of Mounds View, and
WHEREAS, said facilities would be expanded to facilitate
the handling of large commercial and military aircraft, and
WHEREAS, The Village Council recognizes as a result of
1. A major airfield will create an economic stimulus for
the adjacent area as well as an employment center to help in supporting
an increased population,
2. Major airports do not adverseley effect property
values of adjacent property and
WHEREAS, The Village Council agrees with the principal
of an expanded major airfield in this general area on the grounds that it
will provide commercial development,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That the Village Council
of the Village of Mounds View agrees with the principal of an expanded major
airport in this general area, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the Village Council stand
unanimously opposed to the expansion of the present Anoka County Airport site
on the grounds that
1. It would create a dangerous situation to the residents
of the Village of Mounds View
2. It would in fact be a nuisance
3. The development of the present site would seriously
affect the zoning regulations of the Village of Mounds View
4. Because the alignment of the new 5TH ##10 is still
undecided and because of the pcssibility of a diamond interchange being
developed at the intersections of Long Lake Road and County Road "J" and
the expansion of the present airport site would adverse3y affect this
intersection,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the Village Council of the
Village of Mounds View in view of all the factors involved submits that the
Metropolitan Airports Commission shall cease and desist from the expansion
of the Anoka County Airport and that instead it seek a new site no closer
than 4
ti.x3.e. —.:1a1 miles from the North boundary line of the Village
of Mounds View.
