A RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING THAT THE NECESSARY STEPS BE TAKEN TO
TREAT SPRING LAKE FOR ITCH PRODUCING ORGANISMS
WHEREAS, Spring Lake is a very popular and much utilized body of water
which serves a very large area of Ramsey and Anoka Counties; and
WHEREAS, Spring Lake has been heavily used not only for recreational
swimming, but for the teaching of swimming; and
WHEREAS, the use of Spring Lake has been limited in the past few years
because of the presence therein of a certain type of parasite that causes
irritation to the skin and an itch; and
WHEREAS, the future of said lake will be very bleak unless steps are
taken to eradicate the itch producing organisms; and
WHEREAS, it is now possible and practicable to treat Spring Lake for the
condition existing; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of conservation and of the well-
being of this entire area that Spring Lake be protected and preserved,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
1. That the Lakeside Park Commission be urged and is hereby requested to take
the steps necessary to treat Spring Lake.
2. That the State Department of Conservation and the Counties of Anoka and
Ramsey, be requested to contribute financially and to aid and assist in any way
possible in the treatment of Spring Lake.
3. That the Clerk be directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the
Lakeside Park Commission, the Village Council of the Village of Spring Lake Park,
the County of Anoka, the County of Ramsey, and the Department of Conservation of
the State of Minnesota.
