HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 7685 RESOLUTION 7685 CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NO. 2 FOR THE 2010 MUNICIPAL WELL NO. 1 2 REHABILITATION PROJECT WHEREAS, Municipal Well No. 2 is currently being rehabilitated by Keys Well Drilling Company of St. Paul as part of the 2010 Municipal Well No. 1 2 Rehabilitation Project; and WHEREAS, Bolton Menk is performing design work for replacing the natural gas engine with an electric motor as part of the Municipal Well No. 2 Motor Replacement and Well House Electrical Modifications Project; and WHEREAS, it is recommended that the pump for Well No. 2 be lowered 60 feet to accommodate the water table levels projected over the next 20+ years to provide a reliable source of drinking water; and WHEREAS, prices to lower the pump were provided with the rehabilitation project and other prices to furnish and install a new electric motor have been competitively bid by the City; and WHEREAS, Keys Well Drilling Company of St. Paul, Minnesota is currently rehabilitating Municipal Well No. 2 and has the lowest cost to perform the pump lowering and motor replacement; and WHEREAS, City staff have prepared a change order for $29,675 to perform said pump lowering and motor replacement with Key's Well Drilling Company; and WHEREAS, monies for rehabilitating Well No. 1 and 2 has been planned for in the Capital Improvement Program and in the adopted 2010 Budget under Water Infrastructure and Equipment Maintenance (700 -4823- 7050). NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows: 1. The City hereby approves Change Order No. 2 for $29,675 to lower the pump 60 feet and furnish /install a new electric motor for Municipal Well No. 2 as part of the 2010 Municipal Well No. 1 2 Rehabilitation Project. 2. Payment for the additional costs borne by the change order will be funded by the Water Enterprise Fund account (700- 4823 7050). 3. City staff is directed to pursue approval of a rebate by Xcel Energy for the electric motor upgrade at Well No. 2. 3 Adopted this 11th day of October, 2010.
