AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A 2011 VACTOR SEWER CLEANING TRUCK
WHEREAS, as part of the Public Works Departments maintenance programs,
equipment is a necessity; and
WHEREAS, the Public Works Department has implemented a maintenance
program to maintain the 41+ miles of sanitary sewer, 44+ miles of storm sewer, two lift
stations, 900+ manholes and over 1500 storm water catch basins; and
WHEREAS, the City utilizes a combination sewer cleaning truck that uses water
to clean the lines and a vacuum to remove any debris; and
WHEREAS, the Vactor Sewer Cleaning Truck was first budgeted to be replaced
in 2009, and again in the 2010 and 2011 adopted Budgets under the Sanitary Sewer
Enterprise Fund (730- 4823 7030). The 2011 Budget currently has $330,000 allocated
in this Fund for the replacement of the Vactor; and
WHEREAS, Staff has obtained a quote from MacQueen Equipment under the
State of Minnesota Cooperative Purchasing Venture for a 2011 Vactor Model 2100 in
the amount of $296,541.79 plus sales tax and any applicable license fees; and
WHEREAS, in order to aid in the operation and maintenance of the unit, it is
recommended that the Vactor purchase include an Auto Lube System for the Chassis in
the additional amount $7,578.00 plus sales tax to be purchased and installed from
MacQueen Equipment; and
WHEREAS, in order to aid in the operation and maintenance of the unit, it is
recommended that the Vactor purchase include a Pro vision camera system in the
amount of $1,255.00 sales tax to be purchased from MacQueen Equipment and
installed by Staff.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows:,
1. The City hereby authorizes the purchase of a 2011 Vactor Model 2100 from
MacQueen Equipment at the cost of $296,541.79 plus sales taxes and any
applicable license fees.
2. The City hereby authorizes the purchase and installation of a Auto Lube
System for the Chassis in the amount $7,578.00 plus sales tax to be
purchased and installed from MacQueen Equipment.

3. The City hereby authorizes the purchase of a Pro vision camera system in the
amount of $1,255.00 sales tax from MacQueen Equipment to be installed
by staff.
