HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 1958/08/05The regular meeting of the Village Council of the Village of Mounds View was held August 5, 1958 at the Mounds View Village Hall, 1450 W. Highway 96. The following members were present: Mayor: Clerk: Trustees: .nd the following were also present: Deputy Clerk: Mary Jean Milbrandt Legal Counsel: Richard Meyers Treasurer: Irene Edberg The meeting was opened at 8:13 P.M. by Mayor, James W. Gibson. All bills were approved to be paid. James W. Cibaon Martha Irvine John L. Sullivan Reuben G Achterkirch Ingram C. Rustad August 5, 1958 17 Motion by Sullivan, seconded by Achterkirchlo approve bill of Wm. Vanglsberge is and have the Mayor check with the County Weed Inspector for handling of spraying weeds on private property. ayes. Motion carried. Case of Mounds View Versus Leo 1. Edwards was discussed and decided to drop th Motion by Sullivan,; seconded by Rusted to amend minutes of previous meeting to read that 1/3 of the membership of the Planning Committee will serve 1 year, 1/3 twe years, and 1/3 three years. 5 ayes. Motion carried. Motion by Sullivan, seconded by Rustad to approve minutes as amended. Motion by Achterkirch, seconded by Irvine to have the posts on Ardan Ave, removed. 5 ayes. Motion carried. Motion by Sullivan to have the Mayor and Trustee Rusted call the Engineer to make a study of the state aid road system and make recommendations to the Council. Seconded by ,Achterkirch. 5 ayes. Motion carried. Motion by Irvine, seconded by Achterkirch to accept Ordinance 58. 5 ayes, Motion carried. Motion by. Irvine, seconded by Rustad to refer the Curfew Ordinance to a committee of 1 school teacher, 1 parent, °1 council member and 3 teenagers. Attorney to give list to the committee of what they must have in the ordinance and committee to report back by September 2. 5 ayes. Motion carried. Motion by Sullivan, seconded by Rustad to approve Cigarette licenses for Rodney Wilson, 1925 Highway 10 and Margaret Berthelsen, 2501 Highway 10. 5 ayes. Motion carried. 18 Motion by Irvine, seconded by Rusted that a letter be sent to Rodney Wilson notifying him that a hearing will be held on his Application for a license to sell non-intoxicating malt liquor August 19 at 8:00 P.M. 5 ayes. Motion carried. Motion by Achterkirch, seconded by Irvine to approve the following election judges: 5 ayes. Motion carried. Precinct No. 1 Grace Aleckson Iva Patron Mrs. Louis Wille Mrs. Leigh Roberts alternate Precinct No. 2 Alice Frits Phyllis Blanchard Mrs. Iver Hauberg Gwen Weisel alternate Precinct No. 3 Mrs. Jensen Mrs. Sopkowiak Mrs. Hafslund Mrs. Charles Jackson alternate Warning tickets and summons and complaints as suggested by the dog catcher were turned over to Attorney Meyers for checking. Motion by Achterkirch, seconded by Rusted to have Officer Schaffhausen pay bill of $1.95 for engraving name on badge. 5 ayes. Motion carried. Motion by Achterkirch, seconded by Irvine to have the Attorney write a letter to Mr. Grober -6 telling h ;..m to pay the taxss on the walk through easement and then we will pay the filing :fees and have the property registered as Village property. 5 ayes. Motion carried. Attorney asked to check on insurance policies and the taxes we pay on the telephone. Motion by Rusted, seconded by Achterkirch to discontinue office hours on Tuesday nights. 5 ayes. Motion carried. Motion by Irvine, seconded by Rusted to have the Attorney draw up a resolution to appoint a poundmaster. 5 ayes. Motion carried. Attorney instructed to draw up Ordinance regulating sale of new and used cars. Deputy Clerk to write letter to Building Inspector requesting him to appear at August 19th meeting.
