M. on July 25, 1960, at the Red Oak School, Red Oak Drive and Sharewood Road. Present were: Mayor Allan B. Crane Clerk Earl E. Smith Trustees Belford C. Christensen Donald C. Meyers Lester Snutson c`.0 t. ;2 Clerk Smith read the minutes of the meeting of May 31, 1960 which corrected to read that a motion was made to pay half of the cost of building lavatories at Lakeside Park with the village share not to exceed i500.00. Notion by Malvin, seconded by Hodges to accept the minutes as amended. 5 ayes, motion carried. Ordinance number 71, subject °AH ORDIKA;FCE REGULATIi'G AND CONTRCLLIZG SHE SETTIiG, IGNITING OR STARTI.TG OF FIRES WITHI7: THE VILLAGE OF MOISDS VIEW; PROVIDING FOR WERGEiCY POWERS; AND REPEALIiNG ORDINAiCE NO. 90 was reed and moved by Smith, seconded by Malvin for ao•3roval. Amendment to the Ordinance was made by Christensen requiring all comaercial or public incinerators constructed ii the village be in accordance with the Fire Underwriters standards and that plans for such be prepared by a registered Architect. Mayor Crane then asked for a call of roll on the amendment which received 5 ayes for approval. Clerk Smith then called roll on the original motion with Smith, Christensen, Malvin and Crane voting aye; Hodges no. Motion Carried. Mayor Crane then moved that Walter Skiba be appointed Chief Fire Marshall and Gordon Hafslund be appointed as Assistant Fire Marshall for the village. Motion seconded by Christensen. Smith and Malvin then pointed out that Mr. Skiba had quite a lot of other village work to do at the present time with the waterworks program and as a village inspector and that he may not have the time to give to this appointment and the is— suance of burning permits. Mr, Skiba who was present at the meeting then agreed to try the job and stated that he would notify the council if it was necessary to give it up because of interference with other necessary village work. Upon call of roll all members voted aye; motion carried. The Transient Peddler's Ordinance was discussed and tabeled until the next meetir Mayor Crane announced that a meeting would be held at 1:00 P. M., Saturday, July 30, 1960, at the village office to form an Industrial Committee, and that anyone interested in serving on this committee was welcome to attend this meeting. C :jti The possibility of preparing a weed ordinance requiring the cutting of weeds on private property was again discussed. The Village Abtorney stated the Village could cut weeds on private property and add the cost of cutting to the tax rolls for the property concerned. The council decided that any complaint received by the village would be investigated and the party con- cerned allowing weeds to grow on his property where neighbors consider it a nuisance would be requested to cut his weeds and if not so done, the party would be informed that the village would do so and add the cost to the tax rolls for that property. The purchase of property on Woodcrest Avenue between Brighton Lane and Sunnyside Road for playground purposes was discussed. Village Attorney and Trustee Hodges to investigate the possible purchase of this land and report at a future meeting. A meeting between the Attorney for John Robertus and the village council was discussed as per request from said attorney. Said meeting decided to be held on Wednesday, July 27th, 1960 at 7:00 P• M. Meeting with the Village Engineer to be held the same evening at S :00 P. M. tm discuss the waterworks construction. A report was given by Mr. Lester Knutson from the firm of Comstock and Davis, Village Engineers, concerning the waterworks construction and possible addition of the laterals requested in the petitions received from the Enollwood area and Laport Drive. Further information on the petitions and program to be given to the council and discussed at length with the Engineers at the meeting on Wednesday night, July 27th. Attorney Meyers read the Water Hookup Agreement which will be used between the village and interested property owners who must construct shallow wells before village water is available. The council discussed and agreed that anyone building new homes who wish to build a shallow well must enter into this agreement with the village or adhere to the building code requiring deep wells. A request fo: a temporary building to be erected by Mr. Donnetelli for use as a storehouse for liquor and other storage for approximately three months was discussed by the council. It was the general feeling of the coun- cil that such building should not be allowed as the precedence set would allow others to build under the same circumstances thus attracting erratic building in the village. The construction of gas mains and service to the homes in the village was again discussed by the council. Clerk Smith stated that he had received the addresses of three gas companies from the village engineer, to which he had written letters asking that a representative of each of the companies meet with the council in order that the council could arrange for the best possible franchise for the residents of the village. The Part[ and Playground Committee submitted a proposed budget for the year of 1961 in the abount of Budget to be reviewed at the regular budget meeting in August or September. Motion by Smith, seconded by Malvin to approve the following billc: (Bee list attached). Motion by Christensen seconded by Smith to adjourn at 10:30 P. M. 5 ayes, motion carried.
