HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 1960/12/06VILLAGE OF MOUNDS VIEW RAMSEY COUNTY MINNESOTA MINUTES OF VILLAGE ELECTION (1) C.Ci32 A special meeting was held in the Village Office, 5499 Adams St., Now Brighton Minnesota to canvass the votes of the village election of December 6, 1960. The meeting was called to order at 7 :30 p.m. on December 6, 1960 by Mayor Crane with the following members present: Mayor: Allan B. Crane Clerk Earl E. Smith Trustee: Melford C. Christensen Donald B. Hodges Perry Malvin At the Annual Village Election of the Village of Mounds View in the County of Ramsey and State of Minnesota, held at Red Oak School, Pin..wood School, and Messiah Lutheran Church, being the place where was directed to be held by the Village Council after giving due notice thereof as provided by law, on the 26th day of November, 1960, and appointed nine qualified voters of said Village to act as Judges of such Election in throe precincts, each of whom had within twenty days before such time been designated and appointed by the Village Council to act as Judges of such election (a) Ada Sopkowiak, Ramona Thompson, Maxine Benesch, Bernice Schaffhausen, Bernice Ehlers, Lila Hauberg, Mary Pearson and Idamae Larson, who, being present, at the hour of 7 :00 o A.M., each of them duly took and subscribed an oath or affirmation to faithfully discharge the duties required of them at such Election; and the said Judges xxd being duly qualified, forth— with opened the polls by proclamatim, and the Election proceeded by ballot without adjournment or intermission_ until closed. The subjects voted on at such Election, as stated in the Notice thereof, were: to elect: 1 Village Clerk 1 Trustee 1 Justice of the Peace and to cast the ballot on the question "Shall Optional Plan A, Bring the standard plan of village government by providing for the appointment by the auncil of the clerk, treasurer and assessor, be adopted for the government of the village At g:00 o'clock in the afternoon of said day the polls were closed, proclamation thereof having been made by one of the Judges thirty minutes previous thereto. The Judges then proceeded to publicly count and can— vass the rotes, and a true statement thereof, was duly proclaimed to the voters by the Clerk who recorded the same in the Village Minute Book. STATEMENT OF RESULT OF CANVASS Tne following is a true statement of the result of the counting and canvass of votes by ballot at the Annual village Election of the Village of Mounds View, County of Ramsey and State of Minnesota, held December 6, 1960, as proclaimed to the voters by the Clerk of Election: of J ome la ar d1e For the office of Village Clerk; L. Jerome Blanchard received? 253 Kenneth N. Simonson received 242 Earl E. Smith received 10 votes. Betty Wall received 2 votes. Jack Sullivan received 1 vote. Blank or defective el 24. L. Jerome Blanchard was declared elected Village Clerk. For the office of Trustee: Perry Malvin recei ved votes. Earl E. Smith received 130 votes. James Gibson received 2 vies. Patricia Stengson received 1 vote. Castro received 1 vote. Blank or defective ballot 6.3. John Robertus received 1 vote. Perry Malvin was declared elected Trustee. John G. Bell received 465 votes. Earl E. Smith received 1 vote. Vernon Carlson received 1 vote. Leo Bringewatt received 1 vote Glen Craver rec ]ived 1 vote. Frank Kilroe received 1 vote. Avron Snab received 1 vote. Vere Warden received 1 vote. John Leight received 1 vte William Frits received 1 vote. Robert Lynen received 1 vote. Blank or defective ballots 45. On the Question: 160 Yes ballots were cast 373 No ballots were cast Blank or defective ballots 1. votes. votes. For the office of Justice of the Peace: John G. Bell was declared elected Justice of the Peace. The question was delcared defeated. Motion Malvin, seconded by Christensen to adjourn the meeting at 5:22 P. M. 5 ayes, motion carried.
