Trustee Johnson reported favorable comments on snow removal and commanded the removal crews on their performance. The removal of snow from around fire hy- drants was cccomplished by village maintenance employees. Ffeyor :t stad,announccci a recess at 5256 p.m. until after the Special hearing. The Special Hearing on water and sewer improvements in Section 17 was tailed to order by Mayor Rusted at 9;00 p.m. The notice was read and the Attorney explained that the notice was yablished for a January 16 hearing which was postponed due to a snowstorm. Counci?.nen =-ere contacted at that time, advised of the postponement, and the hearing was reeehs uled for January 23. 1967. Attorney Meyers acknowledged that receipts were received iron the registered letters that were sent to all nine affected property owners .concerning the postponement and the Bulletin had published a notice of the postponement. Engineer Boehm commented on winter activity in relation to the construction of the Rice Creek crossing, and in response to a question from Mt. :bare, explained the properties 'Al' Mr. Jansen and Ht. Skiba. There were no further questions from the floor. Mayor /Lusted called for objections from the floor three times. There were no objections. Trots* announced that at the Planning Commission -meeting at 7130 on February 21, future street improvements will be discussed. MOTION made (Walser), seconded (Johnson) to approve retroactive to January 1 a new wage scale of 32.25 per hour for the Deputy Clerk, Marilyn Melberg, with a raise of 15 cents per hour after one year of eeplpyment and 42.00 per hour for clerk typist Marlys Overson. insurance premiums will be paid if employees request opverage, but salaries will remain the sane whether insurance coverage is provided or cat. Motion Carried 5 Ayes The Clerk commented that the new wage scale was more in line with industry standards. The Clerk also stated that a complete employee agreement covering vaca- tions, sick pay, etc. would be drafted and presented at a future meeting. air. L. J. MOTION rude (Walser), seconded (Johnson) to amend the motion approving the bills le readt approval of checks numbered 704 through 709, 731 through 759, 761, 762,1060, and 3013 through 3050. (instead of stating exact total of bills) Motion Carried 5 Ayes Bob Feleund had no report. Wally Skiba had no report. Charles Jackson presented a check for :34.00 for matching funds and asked that it be credited to the Civil Defense budget. ,after a clarification of the matching Herds term, the Mayor assured Mr. Jackson that the check 'would be credited to the Civil Defense account. The Attorney reported on his study of payments to terminated village erployeee citing five cases on record. On the basis of his study, Attorney Meyers recommended payment through the last day worked. Notice was given prior to December le 1966. Mr. Blanchard referred to the resignation of the first Police Chief. He resigned , later withdrew his resignation and did receive some ad.dit =onal Pee. 3:r. Blanchard com- mented on the extra hours worked by Mrs. Lauasse in attending Council metiers, work ing on voter registration, and in elections. Engineer Boehm advised that he has the specifications prepared for painting of the water tower and stated it should be done in May. He recommended the Council set up bid dates to permit advertising for bids.
