The regular monthly meeting of the Village Council of the Village of Mounds
View was held June 3, 1958 at the Mounds View Village Hall, 1450 W. Highway 96.
The following members were present:
Mayor: James W. Gibson
Clerk: Martha. Irvine
Deputy Clerk: Mary Jean Milbrandt
Trustees: John L. Sullivan
Reuben G. Achterkirch
Ingram C. Rustad
Treasurer: Irene Edberg
The meeting was opened at 8:04 P.M. by Mayor, James W. Gibson.
The minutes of the May 27th, May 23rd, May 14th and May 19th meetings were
read by the Clerk. Motion by Sullivan, seconded by Achterkirch to accept minutes
as read. The following voted aye -- Achterkirch, Gibson, Irvine, Rustad and Sullivan
and the following nay- -none. Motion carried.
Otto Bonestroo, Engineer, showed the profile maps for Edgewood Drive and
Bronson Drive to the Council. The Council will meet June 11 at 8:00 P.M. to
consider the specifications and advertise for bids.
Motion by Rustad, seconded by Irvine that all applicants for positions will be
considered on basis of qualifications: As a matter of policy residents will be
given preference if qualifications are met. Upon roll call the following vote was
taken—Achterkirch, no; Gibson, abstain; Irvine, abstain; Rustad, yes; Sullivan, yes.
Motion lost.
Dog Catcher problem was referred to Trustee Rustad.
Motion by Sullivan, seconded by Achterkirch that the Council join the Ramsey
County Municipal Officials Association. Upon roll call the following vote was taken- -
Achterkirch,, yes; Gibson, yes; Irvine, yes; Rustad, yes; Sullivan, yes. Motion
carried.
Deputy Clerk instructed to issue dog licenses and building permits from the
Clerk's Office.
Deputy Clerk to have John Koontz, Town and Country Sign, furnish the village with
a small movable bulletin board and install a bulletin board on the NE corner of
County Road H2 and Knollwood, between mail box and light pole.
Motion by Sullivan, seconded by Rustad that the following resolution be adopted:
Resolved that the polling places for the Village of Mounds View be as follows: Precinct
#1 the area South of Highway 10-- polling place Messiah Lutheran Church; Precinct #2
the area North of Highway 10 and west of Long Lake Road -- polling place Redoak School;
Precinct #3 the area North of Highway 10 and east of Long Lake Road -- polling place
Pinewood School. Preceding resolution subject to attorney's approval. Upon roll call
the following vote was taken-- Achterkirch, yes; Gibson, yes; Irvine, yes; Rustad, yes;
Sullivan, yes. Motion carried.
