October 29, 1958
A special meeting of the Village Council of the Village of Mounds View was
called to order by Mayor Gibson at 7:30 P.M. on October 29, 1958, at the Village
Hall, 1450 West Highway 96.
The following members were present:
Mayor: James W. Gibson
Clerk: Martha Irvine
Trustees: John L. Sullivan
Reuben G. Achterkirch
Ingram C. Rustad
and the following were also present:
Deputy Clerk: Mary Jean Milbrandt
Legal Counsel: Richard Meyers
Mr. McCubrey and Mr. McFadden from the State Highway Department presented plans for
Highway 8. Mr. Dahlgren, planning consultant, presented a map showing the proposed
shopping center in the 80 acres between 8 and 10 and the effect that the highway will
have on this property. After much discussion the Council recessed for five minutes.
At the end of the recess the Mayor announced that the Council could not approve the
plans at the present time with the deletion of the service drive along Highway 8. The
Council will arrange a future meeting with the Highway Department.
Trustee Sullivan recommended that Mrs. Glen Dawson, Mrs. Fred Madsen, Betty Wall
and Mr. Earl Barry be appointed to the Recreation Committee.
Motion by Achterkirch, seconded by Rustad to change the date when the interest on
the assessment for Edgewood Drive would begin from January 1, 1959 to September 16, 1958.
5 ayes.
Motion by Achterkirch, seconded by Irvine to adjourn at 10:07 P.M.
