The building inspector, Mr. Koontz, appeared before the council with the original plans submitted by Mr. Bentrup showing the proposed remodeling of the house in question and that this house did not comply with the structure of the original plans. It was also brought to the attention of the council that Mr. Bentrup had installed 50 feet of drainfield on his property, installation by the Gilbertson & Surface Company. Motion made by Gibson, seconded by Achterkirch that a letter be written to Gilbertson & Surface in regards to installation of such drainfield without a permit and that a double permit fee be requested and that the film be instructed that further violations of the permit may cause the suspension or revocation of their license. Motion carried unanimously. Motion. by Achterkirch, seconded by Gibson that the resignation of the Chief of Police, John Och, be accepted. Achterkirch, Christensen, Sullivan, Gibson, aye; Smith, no Motion,carried. A report was read by Trustee Achterkirch regarding the position of Chief of Police after May 31st that the Police Commission recommended that the ranking officer, Sergeant xo1ertus, fill this position on a temporary basis. It was requested by the council that the police commission obtain a new Chief of Police within six months. Motion by Gibson that the police officers be compensated for extra time worked when other Officers are on vacation and when the reduction of the force is in effect on June 1st. Motion lost for lack of a second. A discussion in regard to the police radio in the 1956 police vehicle to Donald Bona, the village dog catcher was tabled until further investigation is made by the council. The following items on the Agenda were tabled until the June 1st meeting of the Village Council: The Fire Prevention Ordinance. A Letter from the Post Office subject of which is unknown. Resolution concerning the League of Municipalities. The discussion of claim vouchers recently acted on in the State Legislature. The discussion regarding the subject of recreation. The council was advised of a meeting of the Ramsey County Municipal Officials would be held at the Roseville Village Hall on May 27 at 8:00 P.M. in regards to garbage proposals and the problem of garbage incineration by municipalities. A meeting was called to be held with the Local Planning Commission on Saturday, May 23, at 3:30 P.M. A meeting was called between Mayor Gibson; John Koontz, building inspector; '.dally Skiba, heating inspector; and Trustee Achterkirch, who were to meet at the Babinski housing project at 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, 1''ay 19, to inspect the transit chimneys which are being built on said houses in the Twelve Oaks Addition Red Oak Drive. The purchase of a Sewer and Water magazine and Books was agreed to by the council. Said purchase to be made by the clerk's office and books kept on file for all council members.
