VILLAGE OF MOUNDS VIEW
RAMSEY COUNTY
MINNESOTA.
The regular meeting of the Mounds View Village council was called to
order by Mayor Allan B. Crane at 8 :10 P. M., Monday August 8, 1960, at the
Red Oak School, Red Oak Drive and Sherewood Road.
Members Present:
Mayor A Ilan B. Crane
Clerk Earl E. Smith
Trustee Melford C. Christensen
Perry Malvin
Attorney Richard G. Meyers
Engineer Lester Knutson
Members Absent:
Trustee Donald C. Hodges
The Minutes of July 11, 1960 was read by Clerk Smith and corrected as
follows: Paragraph 9, page three " Motion by Hodges seconded by Malvin that
Patrolman Pierce be granted two weeks vacation with pay. Motion amended
by Christensen that Pierce be granted one week with pay and one week without
pay due to the short time of service with the Police Force." Add -- 5 ayes,
Motion carried. Motion by Crane seconded by Malvin that
the minutes be approved as corrected. 4 ayes, motion carried.
The minutes of July 12th was read by Clerk Smith and corrected to read
that a check payable to Lametti and Sons was approved at the meeting of July
11, 1960 instead of July 25, 1960. Motion by Malvin seconded by Crane
that the minutes be approved as corrected. 4 ayes, motion carried.
The minutes of July 25th was read by Clerk Smith. Motion by Christensen
seconded by Malvin that the minutes be approved as read.
Mr. Eickstead, Chairman of the Police Commission read the police report
for the month of July which is placed on file in the Clerk's Office.
A discussion was held relative to the police car which had to be
removed from service for extensive repairs. Clerk Smith stated that when
a breakdown of the vehicle occurs the policeman on duty should take immediate
steps to have the vehicle repaired and then report same to the proper authority.
The village attorney stated that someplace in the Police Ordinance the Chief
of Police or Police Officer in charge of the Department had the authority to
maintain the police equipment and see that it is in condition for service.
Therefore, when repair of the equipment is required it is up to the head
of the Department to see that the equipment is repaired as soon as possible.
