The regular meeting of the Mounds View Village Council was
called order by Mayor Crane at 8:00 P.M., November 13th, 1961 at the
Red Oak School, Sherwood Rd. and Red Oak Dr., Minneapolis, Minn.

Minutes of the regular meeting of October 23rd were reviewed.
Mayor Crane requested that the spelling of Mrs. Carnes name be corrected.
Motion by Hodges to approve minutes of the October 23rd meeting as
corrected. Seconded by Christensen. 4 Ayes.
Motion by Malvin to accept minutes of the Special meeting held
November 6th, 1961. Seconded by Hodges. 4 Ayes.
Mayor Crane read the monthly report of the Mounds View Police
Department. There were 157 calls answered and 5,160 miles patroled
within 527 patrol hours which included 26 traffic tickets issued,
4 hospital runs and 5 person to jail.
Mayor Crane read the recommendations of the Police Commission:
1. Commission recommends that the Chief be authorized to purchase
jackets for four men at about $21.50 each. Motion by Crane to concur
in the request. Seconded by Malvin. 4 Ayes.
2. Commission recommends that Patolman Caldwell be placed on stand -by
status (due to conflict with regular job) effective November 15th and
if he works after that date his pay would be set at $1.50 per hour.
Motion by Crane to concur in this request seconded by Christensen. 4 Ayes.
3. Commission recommends that the Council hire one. Patrolman -hours
7:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Monday thru Friday, eight hours Saturday and
Sunday every other week; pay- $50.00 per month for six months probation,
$165.00 per month after six months. Motion by Crane to concur in this
request and that the day patrolman to be hired would be Duane Arnold
Hagen, 2536 County Rd. H -2.
Mr. Christensen requested that a letter be sent setting up. the
terms of employment and p a.ih ±ing _ obt ahe Nge :iod- of; 41cr'oba ±ix n . The letter
inclwAde that any work beyond the six months probation is deter-
mined by the Village Council. Also, the Village Attorny should prepare
a memorandum on this matter. Motion seconded by Hodges. 4 Ayes.
4. Commission recommends that the Council hire one night p,rplman,
hours 3 :00 P.M. to 8:C0 P.M. Monday thru Friday, eight hours Saturday
and Sunday every other week, pay $ 50.00 per month for six months
probation, $160.00 per month after six months. Motion by Crane to
