Aug. 28th, 1961 Council meeting (con't)
and also to the member appointed at the previous meeting notifying
them of their appointment and of the time and place of the next
Planning meeting
Mr. Malvin made a report for the Public Welfare Department
regarding a complaint about a business in a residents garage. This
business apparently has been at this location for some time and is
now of such a size to constitute a possible public nuisance.
This matter was referred to the Building Inspector for investigation.
The minutes of the Police Commission meeting were read by Mayor
Crane (copy on file) and the following action taken.
Notion by Crane to raise the salaries of the Village Police Dept.
to the following monthly salaries effective Sept. 1, 1961.
Chief $200.00 Patrolman day $180.00
Sgt. 180.00 " " nite 160.00
it relief115.00
start 50.00 6 mos.
Clerk - typist 1.50 hr.
Seconded by Hodges.
Mayor Crane presented the Council with some information regarding
number of hours each officer is scheduled to work.
Mr. Dale Pierce, 8160 Eastwood Dr., asked for permission to speak
and received it. He stated that he didn't feel this raise was a fair
and equitable one with regards to actual hours worked, and asked that
furtherstudy be given this before any action is taken. Mayor Crane
pointed out that this had been under study and advisement for several
months and felt that this was the proper time for action.
Upon call of the roll the following vote was taken: 4 aye.
Christensen abstaining, When asked for the reason for abstaining
Mr. Christensen stated that he does not feel there is enough data to
really justify a vote at this time and also that he feels a strictly
hourly wage would be a fairer solution to the problems in the pay
schedule of the Police Dept.
Mr. Christensen reported for the Public Works Dept. He stated
that the gas lines was being put in the Village and that N.S.P. was
committed to return disturbed streets, blvds., etc. to t'ieir orginal
state.
He also reported that the County and private (contracted) road
repair work was progressing very well.
The matter of Uoodcrest drainage was referred back to the agenda
meeting Sept. 5th, 1961,
Motion by Hodges to send work order to the County Engineer to
perform necessary work per specifications of the Engineers on Village
skating rinks. Seconded by Malvin. 5 Ayes.
