A number of residents appeared regarding the drainage problem at Groveland Road and Bronson Drive. The Engineer presented a report on this project to the Council (on file) and explained what needed to be done. Motion by Blanchard to undertake the Groveland- Bronson Storm Sewer Project, directing the Attorney to obtain necessary easements and the Engineer to receive informal bids. Seconded by Sullivan. 5 Ayes Mr. James Haluptzok appeared with the final plat for Haluptzok Terrace requesting Council action. Motion by Sullivan to approve final plat plan for Haluptzok's Terrace and directing the Clerk to affix the Village seal over his signature on said plat plan. Seconded by Malvin. 5 Ayes Mr. Haluptzok requested that water, storm sewer and street projects be started in this area, with the assessment for said improvement going against individual lots, with work to commence in 1963. Motion by Crane to have the Engineer prepare preliminary plans for street improvement, water and storm sewer in Haluptzok's Terrace. Said work to commence with the 1963 construction season. Seconded by Hodges. 5 Ayes. The Mayor read the Police report for August 1962 and it was placed on file. The Mayor read a letter of resignation from Patrolman Ralph Slifer. Motion by Crane that the resignation of Patrolman Slifer be accepted with deep regret by the Council. Seconded by Blanchard. 5 Ayes. The Clerk was directed to send a letter to Mr. Slifer notifying him of action taken and expressing the gratitude of the Village for seven years of public service as an officer on our Police Force. Motion by Crane to hire Mr. David T. Davis as night patrolman at a salary of $50.00 per month for a six month probationary period. Seconded by Malvin. Mr. Davis' qualifications and his position on the Police eligibility roster were studied and discussed. Roll call on this motion. 5 Ayes. The Clerk was. instructed to notify Mr. Davis of his appointment. Copy of letter to Police Commission and Chief of Police. The Mayor read an announcement of a regional meeting of the League of Minn. Municipalities on October 3 at White- Bear Lake. Motion by Blanchard to reserve space for seven delegates to said meeting. Village to pay expenses incurred. Seconded by Malvin,5Ayes A letter regarding the Governor's conference on Youth Traffic Safety on September 17, 1962 at the St. Paul Campus, University of Minnesota, was read by the Mayor. Motion by Crane to have the Chief of Police select one or two delegates from the Public Safety Department to attend said conference and represent the Village. Village to pay expenses incurred. Seconded by Sullivan. 5 Ayes.
