Engineer Boehm discussed the problem created because the HUD people were requesting
all contracts to be let at once. We need to test drill first. He will discuss this
further with HUD officials but ,
the Village might have to finance part of the project
until the contracts are all let.
Mr. Eickstadt requested a report on the MAC meeting that Mayor Rustad and Trustee
Malvin attended last week.
Mayor Rustad replied that additional maps were presented and discussed. The
fact that the court did approve a 9000' runway at the present location was
mentioned. TV towers and other obstacles and problems were mentioned.
Representatives of opposing groups will be welcome but mass confusion at the April
hearing is to be avoided. The hearings will probably take from two to .three days.
They would not commit themselves on a location change.
Trustee Malvin referred to a telephone call he had received from Clerk Walser requesting
information on the special MAC meeting of last week. He discussed the content of the
meeting and commented on the need to identify the facts in the case. He cautioned
against believing rumors and speculation.
Clerk Walser explained his opposition to the proposed sites and expressed his concern
that every attempt be made to influence MAC to locate further north.
Mr. Johnson asked who attended last weeks special MAC meeting.
Mayor Rusted stated Senator Greg was there also.
Mr. Johnson said he feels the meeting schedule demands strong Council action to get
the meeting held out here and perhaps on a weekend.
Mayor Rustad said a decision would be made next Monday night on a letter or
resolution to MAC.
Mr. Eickstadt asked what the official newspaper of MAC was.
Mayor Rustad feels all communities should a gree on place and wording of a resolution.
Mr. Delaney questioned action on his request for a subdivision.
The Planning Commission recommended it but he hasn't formally applied or paid the
fee. He must do this before the Council can. act.
A letter from the County was read by Engineer Boehm, requesting updating information
for a 1920's street plan.
His letter of reply was read.
Mr. Ernest Gustaphson questioned the Planning Commission action on his request. It
was read again. The Planning Commission recommended no action since condemnation
procedures against this property are in process by NSSSD.
Mr. Ernest Johnson questioned whether the Council considered requesting NSSSD to
follow #10 instead of ruining future development of large tracts of land.
