HomeMy WebLinkAboutgr00090_000021_pg51PROCEEDINGS OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL VILLAGE OF MOUNDS VIEW RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA August 12, 1968 The Regular Meeting of the Mounds View Village Council was called to order by Mayor Rustad at 8:02 P.M. on Monday, August 12, 1968, at the Village Hall, 2401 Highway #10, St. Paul, Minnesota 55112. Present: Mayor Rustad Councilman Malvin Councilman Johnson Councilman Lang Also Present: Deputy Clerk Zylla Attorney Meyers Engineer Boehm MSP (Johnson /Lang) To approve the minutes of July 22, 1968. 4 Ayes Residents requests and comments: Mr. Varnes would like stronger action taken to have the Minar property cleaned of dead trees and brush. The Council stressed the problem of enforcement if legal action were taken. Mr. Varnes will solicit names for a petition and send it to Mr. Minar with a copy to the St. Paul Dispatch. Mr. Anderson and Mr. Baker, Mounds View residents, introduced themselves to the Council. Mayor Rustad's Report: Mayor Rustad stated that a problem existed with oak wilt disease in the Village and that any dead trees will be cut and removed from all Village property. The office is to contact some other villages to see what action they are taking. Mayor Rustad also stated that due to an article appearing in the St. Paul Dispatch criticizing Mounds View for the lack of a Human Rights Commission he felt positive steps should be taken to initiate a commission. Attorney Meyers was instructed to draft a resolution establishing a Human Rights Commission for the next meeting. Mayor Rustad also mentioned briefly the fact that a letter was sent to NSSSD requesting $7,500.00 for the Wayside Park restoration. Deputy Clerk Zylla's Report: MSP (Malvin /Rustad) To approve the following licenses: Heating license - Harrington & Son Heating Company, Excavating license - Midwest Excavating Company, Inc., General Contractor license - Riverview Cement Company, Inc., Misc, Gasoline Station license - Bob's Gulf. 4 Ayes MSP (Rustad /Johnson) To approve general checks #2570 - 2612, and payroll checks #394 - 411. 4 Ayes MSP (Malvin /Lang) To approve the following election judges for the September 10 state primary and for the November 5 general and Village election.
