!lerk Zylla read a portion of a letter from the Pollution Control Agency asking that
no construction be allowed on the Century Motor Freight facility until adequate
measures are planned for the protection of the watershed area. A copy of a letter mailed
to Mr. FrankJ.Bonello of Century Motor Freight was also received, which stated that no
construction may be started on their facility until the Pollution Control Agency grants
to Century Motor Freight a waste disposal permit,
Councilman Hodges' Report
Councilman Hodges gave a report on the activities of the Recreation Committee which
included obtaining estimates to move the Ron Hedin garage to Greenfield Park to be
used as a warming house. The Committee also investigated the feasibility of constructing
a skating rink at Edgewood School. The Committee is presently creating an ordinance
which outlines the membership and the activities of the Recreation Committee.
Councilman Hodges stated that the Recreation Committee has tentatively agreed on an
October 3, 1972 date for submission to the voters of another park bond issue. The
Council voiced preliminary approval of the bond issue, but decided to wait to set the
election date until the exact amount can be determined.
Councilman Hodges read a letter from Mike MacNamara, Director of Mounds View Athletic
Association commending the public works crew and Councilman Baumgartner and himself for
the fine cooperation that his association has received during the year in maintaining
the Village ball fields in such excellent condition.
