Mayor Neisen stated that he has talked with Ramsey County Commissioner Salverda and
pund that the Board may install a four way stop if requested but never a semaphore until
,t least the stop sl_gns were tried. He said since Mr. Varnes, the person who presented
the petition, stated the people in the area wanted semaphores or nothing, the matter was
closed.
Councilman Hodges' Report
Councilman Hodges reported that certain "excess property" could be available from the
federal government if the Village complies with federal regulations and the criteria
they set forth which outlines the steps needed to be taken. He said the Fire Department
has a good Civil Defense plan and also could qualify.
Councilman Johnson's Report
MSP (Johnson - Pickar) To install a street light at the corner of Jackson and Oakwood
Drive and two lights mid block between Jackson and Quincy. 5 Ayes
Councilman Johnson said the NSSB was meeting September 28, 1972 to discuss the Board
budget and the Metro Sewer Servicibility Charge at the Fridley City Hall.
Clerk Zylla was instructed to find out why the person selling paintings on Highway #10
and County Road H wasn't licensed. '
7ouncilman Johnson questioned Clerk Zylla as to whether he had started new procedures
uggested by the auditor relative to the J.P.'s court methods. Clerk Zylla replied
.hat his staff had met with the Police and the Clerk and Municipal Court in New Brighton
and a form was devised to solve the problems noted in the audit report.
Councilman Johnson also asked that a complete financial statement for the Youth Services
Bureau be furnished which included community contributions,
Councilman Baumgartner's Report
MSP (Baumgartner - Pickar) To authorize Attorney Meyers to include in the forthcoming
Municipal Code the proposed ordinance creating the Recreation Commission. 5 Ayes
Councilman Baumgartner stated that Shaw Lumber Company was the low bidder on hockey
board lumber for the new Woodcrest rink at $1,190.00. In addition, no reply has been
received from Dr. Witter on Mounds View's letter inquiring about a possible free skating
rink on the Edgewood School property.
Councilman Pickar's Report
Councilman Pickar announced that the Lakeside Park Commission was meeting Wednesday,
September 27, 1972.
