HomeMy WebLinkAboutgr00090_000037_pg149-8- July 28, 1975 Councilman Shelquist announced the public hearing on the Comprehensive Plan would be held August 13, 1975 at 8:00 p.m. Councilman Pickar's Report Councilman Pickar reported that the next Lakeside Park meeting would be Thursday, July 31, 1975. Administrator Achen's Report Administrator Achen reported that he had received a letter from Walijarvi architects in response to a letter they had received from B -E Enterprises. B -E requested the architect to submit a proposed change order to the city for payment with interest or there would be no work after July 31. Administrator Achen said the bill was received just before the last Council meeting and it was too late to be included in the Bills for Approval for the same evening. It has been submitted late by the architect in the past. Administrator Achen said he wrote a letter to B -E telling them to go ahead with remedial work. And, a letter to Walijarvi asking for examination of the exterior tile to evaluate whether we should proceed with a solution to the water and erosion in the basement of the new city hall addition. Administrator Achen read a letter from Engineer Bearden regarding the Twin City Testing Report which stated that the procedures proposed by Twin City Testing do not assure that under all conditions the basement space will not be subject to wetness. Engineer Bearden said to prevent wetness in the basement and to protect the integrity of the building structural system, it will . be necessary to provide a dewatering system that will mai.nta.in . a low enough water table at the building to prevent wetness and will not remove soil from below the building foundations and basement floor slab. Administrator Achen said a remedy must be made on the situation. Mayor Johnson directed city staff to prepare a chronological listing of dates for events surrounding this situation. Administrator Achen said he received a request from the Mounds View Jaycee's for a solicitor's permit to solicit painting of mailboxes red, white and blue in keeping with the Bicentennial celebration. They want to take orders door to door and phone orders. MSP (Johnson - Shelquist) to approve a solicitor's license and waive the fee. 5 Ayes
