There was strong sentiment with all the cities involved that the joint negotiations had not been successful in 1975. Each individual municipality tried to negotiate a separate 1976 settlement. However, by joint negotiation, the terms of this memorandum were agreed to by the Teamsters Local 320 and the M.A.M.A. committee. The economic terms are identical to those in New Brighton's Local 320 settlement for 1976 and 1977 which were fairly reasonable. 1976 salaries will increase 7.96% and 1977 salaries 5.42 %. Mounds View policemen initially rejected this offer last month. However, the union representatives have signed the memorandum, and there is a likelihood that it will be accepted by the membership now. Mayor Johnson: Anything that is changed has to be in writing. Nothing can be verbal.
