HomeMy WebLinkAboutgr00090_000039_pg019PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA A special meeting of the Mounds View City Council was called to order by Mayor Johnson on January 19, 1976, at 7:10 p.m. at Pinewood Elementary School, 5500 Quincy, Mounds View, MN. Present: Mayor Johnson Also present: Administrator Achen Councilman Hodges Councilman Baumgartner Councilman Pickar Councilman Shelquist Mayor Johnson explained the purpose of the meeting was to receive citizen input regarding the comprehensive storm water drainage study. The Mayor introduced Roger Short of the engineering consulting firm performing the study. Mr. Short explained the conditions of his firm's contract for conducting the study and reiterated the purpose of this meeting. Edward Boault, 7581 Pleasant View Drive - stated ground -water levels don't seem to be as high as 7 -8 years ago. George Billington, 7555 Pleasant View Drive - never had water in basement. Tom Colbert, Engineer's office City of Fridley - stated he's here to note that Fridley has had complaints of surface water problems on Pleasant View Drive about 300 feet south of Osborne Road. Darrell Turner, 3048 Bronson Drive - stated he contacted everyone on Mounds View side of Pleasant View from County Rd. I to County Rd. H -2. None had water in basement last year. Some had standing water in back yard. Contacted 15 of the 16 Mounds View property owners. The one missed is his next door neighbor whose property is high. Mr. Boault stated that he has drain tile system and often it is working, so he knows water level may be four feet or so below surface. He stated that the problem really is that people built homes on swamps. Of course, they will have water problems. John Bluhm, 7832 Bona - had water in basement for about 6 months. Drain tile has been installed and sump pump still runs occasionally. Originally thought water problem came from swamp to east, but his test holes seemed to indicate it was coming from the west. Lived there five years and 1975 was first year experienced water problems. John Pickar, 2299 Knoll - has walkout basement. Some neighbors had basement water but not much. None in his.
