HomeMy WebLinkAboutgr00090_000041_pg208July 12, 1976 Page 11 CHAPTER 92, DISEASED TREES This is a proposed revision of Chapter 92, Diseased Trees, bringing the ordinance into conformity with State Statutes. Councilman Shelquist stated that the revision of the ordinance does not state when you have to have the tree down; Atty Meyers replied that he assumed the notice will contain the date it would have to be down. The state requires they must be removed in 20 days. Councilman Shelquist wanted to know if it would be appropriate to say not less than 5 days but not more than 20 days. The administrator stated that it possibly does not have to be passed this evening and Acting Mayor Hodges recommended tabling the matter temporarily. LAWCON GRANT APPLICATION The administrator explained that this grant application is for $100,000 in state and federal funds to acquire 19 additional acres for Silver View Park. The action that the Council has to take is to approve the application and approve the city's source for matching. We would have to have a higher priority ie "community park" to get any funds. It might be possible to use up to 15 acres of the site for storm water retention. The city's matching share could be from 0 to $50,000. The federal funding has to be matched but the state money does not. He recommends that the Council not specify any amount. Councilman Pickar: Under the circumstances it is a good idea. Councilman Shelquist: Good idea, particularly with the storm water. Councilman Baumgartner: Approve the concept of the LAWCON Grant. MSP (Baumgartner - Shelquist) to approve the concept of the LAWCON Grant Application for $100,000 in state and federal funds and that the City designates its source of funding as General Revenue Sharing, park and playground fund and other sources. 4 ayes 1976 BUDGET REVISION The administrator stated that the projected General Fund revenues and expenditures indicate a better financial position than we originally anticipated when the budget was prepared. On the basis of that the staff reviewed the immediate problems and suggested the attached expenditures. Councilman Baumgartner stated that in Greenfield Park a water line should go in also. Councilman Shelquist inquired as to what was going to be done with the solid grill in,the police wing. He would like to have Item 7 deleted until a reasonable use can be found for the grill.
