that the skating rinks ii' not open last Saturday because of the
weather. Engineer Hubbard stated that they may open at Noon on Thursday.
COUNCILME"1BER RTILEY had nothing to report.
Councilmember Hodges suggested that the project of putting in the
corner stone in Administrator Achen's office and the bicentennial
bumper stickers be followed through, before they are forgotten.
"Mayor Pickar suggested these items be referred to the Bicentennial
Commission.
"r. Ziebarth stated that the Commission does have some things to handle
yet and these suggestions would be considered.
Councilmember Hodges questioned the status of the community sign.
Engineer Hubbard stated that they are trying to complete it by
December 21, 197.
"1AY0R RICKAR'S REPORT "favor Pickar stated he had received some information
from the Mounds View Civil Service Commission stating that the three
certified applicants for a police officer in "founds View are Reed
Krogh, Steve Layman and Carl Broberg.
"SP (Pickar- Hodges) that the Administrator be directed to contact the
„number one man, Reed Krogh, and offer him the position and if he
doesn't accept to go to the second and third man, in that order, and
to also work out a starting date with the Chief of Police, subject to
the satisfactory psychological testing having been done.
Attorney Meyers stated that it is important so that the City is prepared
to answer any allegations that may come up. 5 aye,
Mayor Picker stated that this is Councilmember Shelquist's last meeting
and he wants to personally thank him for the many hours he has put in.
Councilmember Shelquist's attention to detail and his work through the
Planning Commission have been a valuable assistance to the City
Administrator Achen suggested that the first meeting in January be held
on January 3 at 7:00 p.m.
