Administrator Achen reviewed their assets and expenses. ?-Ue explained that the Association's budget year starts in ,June but the members will begin paying their dues at the beginning of the. year. There will he more cash assets at the heginning of the year. Councilmen er Zieharth stated that he was concerned about the amount of money being used for salaries. Administrator Pchen stated that Mounds View would pay '1,170 per year plus a prorated fraction if we join before June 1, 1 077. If the City joins as of June 1 the Association would nrohahly start sending us information now. Councilmember 7iebarth stated that he would like to look at this again in a year or two. Councilmember Rowley asked if the Association would'have to increase their staff if more members joined. This would mean more money going for salaries. Administrative Achen stated that this would he a hy- law change which "bounds view would want to vote on. He stated that he felt this was a good organization and that their lobbying efforts are very important. A lot of the Association's success is based on the support of theCouncils. It carries more weight when an elected official does the lobbying. Administrator Achen urged the Council to net involved if they decide to join. :Administrator >Achen stated that the funds for joining were not included in the budget. The money could cone from the contingency fund.
