Mayor Pickar stated they would like the input from the people to help solve the
water problems.

Glen Dawson, 2201 Lambert stated that 25 years ago he had been asked by the people
of the township Council to make a survey of the drainage problems and that he had
made recommendations to them at that time, and that some of the problems still
exist. He stated that solutions had never been arrived at. Mr. Dawson stated he
felt the Task Force would be a good solution since it would not cost a great deal
of money, and that the Task Force would very well make the people happy and come
up with what is needed.
David Notaro stated that he was in favor of the project since he felt it was the
only solution to the flooding problems. He added that he appreciated the Council's
hearing them out and stated that he believed if the people could understand the
fear they experience everytime it rains, they would have been much more understand-
ing of the project. He asked that everyong remember that the water problems are
not from ground water but from inadequate sewers. He added that he certainly
hopes the Task Force will come up with a solution.
Neil Loeding stated that while the Council made a positive decision he felt
immediate attention was needed on the development area and asked that the Council
prevent unrestricted development without considering the consequences first.
He added that if the Task Force is going to examine all areas of problems,
development should not be allowed to take place until the Task Force could operate.
He requested that a moritorium be placed on development.
Mayor Pickar replied that the City had put recent requests from developers off until
a decision was made on the project and that the issue is on the April 10 agenda for
the Council meeting since the developers need an answer on what they can or cannot
do.
Chester Johnson, 7669 Knollwood Drive stated that he has a storm sewer system which
he is paying for now which has never been acknowledged or maintained by the City.
Engineer Hubbard replied that the City does not have sufficient equipment to
clean the lines of debris or the ditches of debris and that they enter into a
contract with a contractor to take care of the major problems that fit within the
budget. He added that the City does not ignore the problem but that only so much
is budgeted for each year.
Shirley Hanson, 5231 Irondale Road stated that she had recently sold her house and
had been told if the project was not denied, money would have had to be put into
escrow, and thanked the Council for denying the project.
Jim Allen, 7943 Greenfield questioned the validity of the Task Force and stated that
a few months ago he had volunteered for a committee to keep the citizens informed
of what was going on but that the committee had never gotten off the ground and that
he had never been contacted.
