HomeMy WebLinkAboutgr00090_000048_pg327December 18, 1978 Page 5 COUNCILMEMBER ZIEBARTH'S REPORT Councilmember Ziebarth stated he would like to take the opportunity to let Councilmember Baumgartner and Mayor Pickar know how much they have been appreciated. He stated they had done a considerable amount of work for the City and that he would always consider them good friends and that it will be difficult to replace their expertise. He added that he wishes them both the best. COUNCILMEMBER HODGES' REPORT Councilmember Hedges stated he would like to take the opportunity to say how much he has enjoyed working with both Councilmember Baumgartner and Mayor Pickar and to commend them for their dedication to the City. COUNCILMEMBER BAUMGARTNER'S REPORT Councilmember Baumgartner stated he would like to thank everyone for their comments. He added that the eleven years he has spent with the City have been challenging and rewarding at times. COUNCILMEMBER ROWLEY'S REPORT Councilmember Rowley stated she would like to reiterate what Councilmembers Ziebarth and Hodges had said. She added that she has enjoyed working with both Councilmember Baumgartner and Mayor Pickar and that she wishes them both the best. MAYOR PICKAR'S REPORT Mayor Pickar stated that he had received a letter from Wayne Shalles of Ridge Lane, who had had a sewer backup in his basement. He added that Mr. Shalles had presented an itemized bill for $418 for the damage done. MS (Pickar - Ziebarth) to have the City pay the bill of $418. Councilmember Ziebarth stated he was seconding the motion for the sake of discussion. Administrator Achen stated that in the past the City Attorney has recommended against payment of such claims since they are considered acts. of God. He added that the City has no justification for making a payment until a determination has been made if the City was at fault. Admini- strator Achen recommended that the Council ask the City Attorney for his opinion. Mayor Pickar stated he would like to withdraw his motion. Councilmember Ziebarth agreed to withdraw his second.
