Administrator Achen reported that eight applications have been received
so far for the Clerk- Administrator position. He stated that copies
will be given to all Councilmembers.
Administrator Achen presented the proposed schedule recommended by
department heads for Council orientation. Councilmember Rowley
pointed out there was a conflict with the January 27 date, and it was
agreed to change that to February 3.
Administrator Achen stated that the January 18 meeting would begin
at 4:30 PM and would be a dinner meeting, at a location which will
be announced. Council tours of city departments will begin at 8:00 AM
on Saturday, January 20, and again on February 3rd.
ATTORNEY MEYERS REPORT
Attorney Meyers reported that on occasion the City receives claims from
residents for damage from sewer backup and so forth. He stated that the
City requires the claims be submitted, and they are then turned over to
the Public Works Supervisor who reviews the claim to determine if the
City was at fault. He added the Council could become a hearing committee
for claims.
COUNCILMEMBER HODGES had no report.
COUNCILMEMBER FORSLUND had no report.
COUNCILMEMBER ROWLEY'S REPORT
Councilmember Rowley reported that the Lakeside Park meeting would be at
Mounds View City Hall on January 11. She added that they are considering
changing all their meetings to the Mounds View City Hall.
Councilmember Rowley reported that she had a request that when a
Councilmember has a prepared statement, they have copies available for
citizens to follow along on.
Councilmember Rowley stated she would like to thank Administrator Achen
for all he had done for the City and wished him the best of luck in his
new job.
COUNCILMEMBER ZIEBARTH'S REPORT
Councilmember Ziebarth reported that he would be attending the SIP for
CAA meeting on January 10.
Councilmember Ziebarth stated he would like to extrapolate from the con-
dolences of Councilmember Rowley to include a sincere thank you to Admini-
strator Achen, a gentleman of high perspicacity and great sapience. He
added that although his departure may have a, deleterious effect on the City,
or in the least, to some degree exacerbate the present situation, he would
like to wish him a great future of success and good fortune. He also added
that he would like to thank Administrator Achen for his improved vocabulary.
