HomeMy WebLinkAboutgr00090_000049_pg070March 12, 1979 Page 5 COUNCILMEMBER ROWLEY'S REPORT Councilmember Rowley reported that Bob Bartkus was appointed to the Lakeside Park Commission. She also reported that they had heard from Ramsey County regarding Lakeside Park, and that basically the County had listed several improvements they would require before they would consider taking the park, which amounted to approximately $50,000. Councilmember Rowley stated that the Commission had written back to the County, pointing out to them that it was financially unworkable for them to put in the improvements and that they had put a good deal of money into the open space program. She stated that they are still waiting for an answer back from the County. Mr. Linke stated that it might be appropriate for the Council members to contact Mr. Orth for any help he might be able to provide. COUNCILMEMBER ZIEBARTH'S REPORT Councilmember Ziebarth reported that Irondale High School had won the Region 2 hockey tournament and would be competing in the State tourna- ment and recommended that the City recognize them for their achievement. MSP ( Ziebarth- McCarty) to proclaim the week of March 11 -18 as Irondale Hockey Week in recognition that the Irondale Hockey Team has won Region 2 in the hockey tournament and will represent the region in the State Tournament on Thursday, March 15 at 7 :05 PM, and also to recognize the outstanding accomplishment of the group. 5 ayes Councilmember Hodges stated he would like to see a congratulatory letter sent along, Acting Administrator Anderson replied that he would handle it and also suggested that the sign board outside City Hall could also be used for congratulating the team. COUNCILMEMBER HODGES REPORT Councilmember Hodges reported that he had been attending the Youth Service Bureau meetings and that they were having financial problems this year. He explained that the Bureau has written letters to the county and school district, asking for financial aid. COUNCILMEMBER FORSLUND'S REPORT Councilmember Forsiund reported that the water treatment plant at City Hall is being sand - blasted and repainted and will take two to three weeks to complete. She also reported that she had visited the office of Comstock & Davis with the maintenance supervisor for the meeting with H & A Con - tractors to review the specifications for the cleaning and repainting of the water tower and water treatment plant #1. Councilmember Forslund reported that the Maintenance Department has been working on grading the streets, using a grader from the County when available. The sand and salt used from the County was on an experimental basis reuse of sand and salt caught in holding tanks from street runoff. There was no charge for this. Councilmember Rowley stated that she would like Staff to check and see how much money has been spent from the snow removal budget so far and
