would like to discuss the whole issue at the next agenda session, such
as where the grader is going when, how much money has been spent and how
much is let, how long the grader will be used, and who will be making the
decisions.
Mayor McCarty explained that at the previous agenda session the Council
had directed the maintenance supervisor to take the front loader out on
the worst roads, but that unknown to the Council, he was in the process
of getting a grader from the County. He agreed that the budget should
be looked at to see how much was left.
Councilmember Hodges stated he would also like to discuss the issue at
the next agenda session. Mayor McCarty replied that the maintenance
supervisor could submit a report and would not have to appear in person.
Mr. Doty replied that the public has a right to question the maintenance
supervisor in person, instead of having to listen to his report presented
by someone else.
Mr. Loeding stated he would like to be able to see the monthly reports
from department heads. Councilmember Ziebarth replied that the reports
would be available upon request at City Hall but that due to the length
of some of the reports, they might have to charge if someone wanted their
own copy.
Councilmember Hodges stated that due to the problems with the streets,
the City should take a closer look at maintaining them. Mayor McCarty
asked Acting Administrator Anderson to find out where the maintenance
supervisor stands for the next agenda session. Councilmember Ziebarth .
added that he would like the maintenance supervisor to be present at the
next agenda session to explain the issue to the Council.
ATTORNEY MEYERS' REPORT
Attorney Meyers reported that he had received notice of the trial for
James Refrigeration, which will start on May 1, 1979.
ACTING ADMINISTRATOR ANDERSON'S REPORT
Acting Administrator Anderson reported that he had received a call from
the Fire Chief, asking if the City would be interested in repairing the
fire trucks and handle routine maintenance, for a set fee. He explained
that the City of Blaine had been doing so in the past but was presently
too busy to continue. Mayor McCarty replied that he would like to dis-
cuss it further at an agenda session, which would allow the Council time
to discuss it with the Fire Chief and maintenance supervisor.
Acting Administrator Anderson reported that the City vehicle driven by
Art Holm had been involved in an accident the past week, and that the
truck had not been damaged. He also reported that in response to the
question from Mayor McCarty concerning audit costs for the City, that
those costs would not exceed the budgeted amount.
