Hodges: No report.
1) Re: Storm sewer cleaning/Ardan Ave.:
Cleaning the lines is priority #1, then
cleaning the ditch, and then check valves.
Rowley questioned the accuracy of the work
records. Nelson stated there is no record of
part-time or C.E.T.A. employees and the
records do not accurately reflect the amount
of work being done.
2) Stated his feeling the Council needs goals
and policies to obtain them. Asked Council-
members to prepare lists of their needs and
needs of the community for the next agenda session.
3) Asked Council their feelings re: the ex
official Planning Commission position. Forslund
liked the idea because they could be familiarized
before a vacancy occurs. Rowley had a problem
with it because the ex official member would
automatically expect to fill the first vacancy,
even though other qualifications may be more
desirable. Suggested the term should expire
every Dec. 31. Nelson agreed. Hodges felt it
a good idea because they gained experience.
Ziebarth thought it would be awkward if the ex
official member is not the most qualified at the
time of a vacancy. The Mayor felt the position
should remain as is, and he, in making the appoint-
ment, would deal with an awkward situation if it
should occur. Meyers stated some cities have
alternate commission members.
Rowley made the motion, seconded by Ziebarth
that the Mayor should write up a description
for the position of ex official member of
Planning Commission, encompassing the topics
discussed at this meeting. Notification should
be published in the newspaper.

1) Need Council approval for settlement of $6,750
in the Laxman-Sundee civil rights case, the
check to be issued at direction of City Attorney.
Ziebarth made the motion, seconded by Hodges
to authorize issuance of a check for $6,750.00
in disposition of Laxman-Sundee vs. the City.
Future direction will be given by the City
Attorney as to the names to appear on said check;
the money will be transferred from the Contingency
Fund.
