Public Works: (Larry Decheine)
- They have been seal coating the appropriate
streets.
- They have been primarily cleaning sanitary
sewers at this time, but will be doing more storm
sewers later in the fall.
- Since the tower is back in service, there
will be no need for a sprinkling ban this year.
The City is averaging 2 millions gallons of water
consumption per day. The Water Department has had
to increase the water pumping.
- A11 new vehicles are in except for the Forestry
Department's. Recommendations for the disposition
of the old vehicles will be presented later.
- Are currently within the gas allowance budget
for the year.
Parks, Recreation and Forestry: (Bruce K. Anderson)
- The Park Commission has had 14 special meetings
to put the comprehensive plan together.
- The City has had 12 CETA people this year,
resulting in a savings of $20,000+ in labor savings
for the maintenance of the City.
- There has been some difficulty in obtaining
enough volunteer coaches for the recreation program
(requires at least 15 -20 hours /week /coach).
- There were two college interns working with the
department this year.
- Are slightly over budget because of extra cost
for part -time help, but this should stablize for the
rest of the year.
- Have planted 5,000 trees in the park this year
and will be planting 5,000 more this fall.
-Have hired a new secretary.
Building and Zoning Official: (Steven Rose)
- Will be receiving materials for 4th year of the
4 year rehab grant program. This program enables low
income single households to make home improvements
(for safety reason).
- Almost all housing applications are in - there
are about 4 multiple property owners who haven't paid
at this time. If payment is not received soon, we
will proceed with prosecution.
- We are at 60% of building permit requests from
where we were last year. We are receiving more re-
modeling requests.
- The planning Commission has received the first
draft of the comprehensive plan. There will be a
public hearing on September 10th. Prior to the public
hearing there will be one neighborhood presentation on
August 23rd.
- We have also hired a new secretary.
