MOTION: Mayor McCarty made a motion to deny the
appeal request.
MOTION FAILS FOR LACK OF A SECOND.
Clerk /Administrator Pauley stated that the staff
had listed the request as a rezoning /code appeal
because staff knew that some time in the future
Mr. Carley would want a foundry.
Discussion took place regarding the allowing of a
pattern shop in the I -1 District.
MOTION: Mayor McCarty made a motion, seconded by
Councilmember Hodges to table the request and to
recommend reviewal by the Planning Commission.
Discussion of the Motion:
Hodges: Would like to take a look at a foundry
and go through one again. He stated that he
would like to go through the foundry in New
Brighton as they probably have changed quite a
bit.
Mrs. Carley stated that they don't heat at high
temperatures in a non ferrous foundry. Further
that aluminum is a non ferrous material.
Attorney Meyers stated that a non ferrous foundry
is a permitted use in a I -2 District.
Forslund: Stated that the Planning Commission had
visited the foundry. Further that she would go
along with denial of a rezoning. She read part
of Resolution No. 13 -81.
McCarty: Suggested that the request go back to the
Planning Commission.
MOTION WAS WITHDRAWN BY MAYOR MCCARTY
AND COUNCILMEMBER HODGES.
MOTION: Mayor McCarty made a motion, seconded by
Councilmember Hodges to deny the request for the
Carley issue, recommending that the Planning
Commission review the Carley Foundry request,
specifically the contents of Resolution No. 13 -81,
and to make further recommendation to the Council
at a future date.
