ADOPTING A CALENDAR FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE 2012 BUDGET
WHEREAS, the City's Charter and Code as well as State Statutes set forth various
requirements for considering and adopting the City's budget; and
WHEREAS, Section 7.04 of the City Charter requires the Clerk- Administrator to submit to
the City Council a budget calendar to be established by resolution.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds View
that the following budget and long tern financial plan calendar is hereby adopted:
June 6, 2011 City Council discusses budget priorities at a work session.
July 21, 2011 Summary of General Fund operating budget requests delivered to City
Council.
August 1, 2011 City Council reviews General Fund budget at work session.
Sept. 12, 2011 City Council adopts preliminary 2012 property tax levy and sets date for the
Truth in Taxation Public Hearing.
Oct. 3, 2011 City Council reviews other funds and utility rate study at a work session.
Nov. 14, 2010 City Council adopts utility rates for 2012.
Dec. 5, 2010 Truth in Taxation Public Hearing.
Dec. 12, 2010 Continuation Hearing and adoption of 2012 budget and tax levy.
Adopted April 11, 2011.

May 9, 2011 Finance Department begins preparing budget work papers.
May 23, 2011 Departments begin preparing operating budget requests.
June 6, 2011 City Council discusses budget priorities and strategies.
June 17, 2011 Operating budget requests due from departments.
June 27, 2011 Summary of operating budget requests due to City Administrator.
June 27, 2011 Capital items needs list due.
July 1 -15, 2011 Administrator reviews operating budget requests and capital projects.
July 21, 2011 Summary of operating budget requests due to City Council.
August 1, 2011 City Council reviews General Fund budget at a work session.
August 8, 2011 Work on utility rate study begins.
Sept. 12, 2011 City Council adopts preliminary 2012 property tax levy and sets
date for the Truth in Taxation Public Hearing.
Sept. 22, 2011 Utility rate study due to City Council.
October 3, 2011 City Council reviews other funds and utility rate study at work
session.
Oct 10 Nov 21 Additional City Council work sessions as needed.
November 14, 2011 City Council adopts utility rates for 2012.
December 5, 2011 Truth in Taxation Public Hearing
Dec. 12, 2011 Continuation hearing and adoption of 2012 Budget and tax levy.
