STATE OF MINNESOTA
APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF NEW DUMP TRUCK
WHEREAS, the City has had the practice of replacing dump trucks on a fifteen-year
cycle. This 15 year trade-in period allows the fleet to be economically maintained without
having major repair bills which are not typically recovered in the trade-in value and;
WHEREAS, the last few years the City has seen the repair costs increase on unit
#133; a 5 year total in repairs of$11,924.00 or a yearly average of$2,384.00 and;
WHEREAS, the City Council approves and places in the operating budget the cost for
replacing vehicles and;
WHEREAS, the Council recognizes the age and increased maintenance costs that
have occurred in the past with unit#133, and staff is recommending replacing this unit with a
similar dump truck and,
WHEREAS, the City has received a quote for 2011 demo unit. The unit is a
Freightliner M2106V Single Axle unit, with a Cummins ISC 350hp diesel engine, Allison 3000
transmission and is in the amount of $73,476.15 plus sales tax, license and transfer fees, for
I State Truck Center 11152 Court House Boulevard, Inver Grove Heights Minnesota and;
WHEREAS, monies are available in the 2011 Pavement Management Fund, 100-
4472-7030, has $140,000.00 budgeted for this dump truck purchase.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds
View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows:
1. This purchase of a 2011 Freightliner M2 106V from I-State Truck Center is
recognized through the Cooperative Purchasing Venture (CPV), a members-only
program that enables participating governmental units, such as Mounds View, to
purchase goods and services under competitive contract terms established by the
State of Minnesota.
2. City Council approves the purchase of a 2011 Freightliner M2 106V from I-State
Truck Center off the State contract in the amount of$73,476.15 for this truck.
Sales tax not included
City Council also approves the purchase of equipment and options for the 2011
Freightliner Dump Truck including a dump body, front plow and wing, under body
plow, lights and cab controls under the state contract to Aspen Equipment in the
amount of$82,054.35, for the purchase and installation of these items.
City Council approves the trade-in of the 1996 Ford 800 Series Dump Truck to I -
State Truck Center at a credit value of$30,000.00.
3. Including sales tax, license and transfer fees, this represents a final net City cost
of$128,577.49 to replace dump truck unit#133 with a 2011 Freightliner M2 106V
to be funded from 100-4472-7030.
