Authorizing the Purchase of 820 Neptune R900 Radio Read Devices
WHEREAS, the City Council approved resolution 7203 on January 14, 2008 and
resolution 7313 on August 11, 2008 authorizing the purchase of Neptune R900 radio
read devices; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has discussed at a work session the purchase of
additional Neptune radio read devices to replace the Sensus radio read devices; and
WHEREAS, the City will see a financial benefit of approximately$40,000 over 20
years due to the reduced cost of replacing batteries and the staff time to replace those
batteries and the cost of software interface charges; and
WHEREAS, Northern Water Works Supply has provided a quote that is slightly
lower than what the City previously paid; and
WHEREAS, the Water Enterprise Fund budget would need to be adjusted for the
purchase.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows:
1. Staff is authorized to purchase 820 Neptune R900 Radio Read devices
from Northern Water Works Supply in the amount of$77,121, which
includes tax. ($88 per unit plus tax)
2. The Water Enterprise Fund budget is increased in account 700-4823-
7030 by $77,121.
