STATE OF MINNESOTA
APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF CHEMICAL FEED EQUIPMENT FOR
WATER PRODUCTION
WHEREAS, the City has the responsibility to efficiently operate the water
distribution system, and;
WHEREAS, in each of the water treatment plants are chemicals used to disinfect
the water and add fluoride to the water system, and, chemical pumps are used to inject
these chemicals into the water system; and in their concentrated state these chemicals
are harsh to the components in the pumps, and;
WHEREAS, the chemical pumps must be replaced after several years of use
(approximately 7-10 years); and
WHEREAS, the Public Works staff has received three quotes for replacement
pumps and automatic switch over valves; and
WHEREAS, the apparent low quote is from Vessco Inc., in the amount of
$9,267.30, not including sales tax or service from the vendor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows:
1. Purchase of (2) Chlorinators, (2) Sulphonators, (4) injectors and (4) automatic
switch over systems, each having two (2) vacuum ASOV valves, from Vessco
in the amount of $9,267.30. Which does includes freight but not sales tax nor
service from the vendor.
2. Payment for purchase of the chemical feed equipment shall be funded by the
Water Department Enterprise fund 700-4823-7030 in an amount of$9,732.30,
which includes a 5% contingency from Vessco of Chanhassen MN.
